Half-Painted Walls That Are All-the-Way Gorgeous

Pedro's Organic and Simple Home in Switzerland

It's a wall painting trend that comes and goes: The half-painted wall. (Or, like the famous "Is the glass half full or half empty?" question, you could also consider these half unpainted walls). Whichever way you look at it, only painting half of a wall isn't putting in half the design effort; it's creating bold style with well-placed color. These rooms showcase just how beautiful and sophisticated this painting idea can be.

It's not just the fact that the wall is only half-painted in Pedro's kitchen; the organic green color and matte sheen also make this room so lovely.

Pedro didn't just keep the half-painted walls in the kitchen; he also employed them in the bathroom to great success (though in this space, it's more like a 3/4-painted wall).

Taylor and Wes' East Village Eclectic

The architectural details in this East Village apartment are highlighted beautifully with a half-painted gray wall.

But as Taylor and Wes talk about in their house tour video (you can find the video by clicking the link above), the half-painted wall trick also helped make a home with a lot of un-level surfaces appear a little more level.

And yes, their apartment is also proof that continuing this wall paint trend throughout the house (and in every room) can bring cohesion and sophistication to your whole home.

Breeze & Lauren's New Orleans Shotgun Filled With Vintage Charm

There are a lot of things to love about Breeze and Lauren's New Orleans home, but the half-painted wall in the kitchen is definitely one of them. Though I can't say for sure this was the reason for only putting paint on the bottom half of the wall, I know that for particularly high ceilings or peculiar architecture, painting only half the wall can make color planning simpler.

Emily's stunning Houston home proves that when considering the half-painted wall, you don't have to stick to just the top or bottom half—a diagonal line across a wall can be gorgeous, too.
