Decorating Tricks to Steal from Stylish Paris Interiors

  • By Nancy Mitchell

Parisian women personify insouciant, one-of-a-kind style, and Paris interiors are no different. Sure, those high ceilings and chevron floors and Haussmanien moldings don't hurt, but Parisian decorators are sort of in a class of their own when it comes to effortless style. Here are five Paris apartments to feast your eyes on, and five ideas to steal for your own space.

Above:This is the Paris home of designer Vanessa Bruno, spotted on The Style Files. Every once in a while it will come back into my life, usually via Pinterest, and I will be reminded of how much I want my home to look EXACTLY LIKE THIS. My favorite style trick from this space is the two low shelves, almost like a console, mounted along one wall of the living room, one only a few inches above the floor. They provide a perfect spot for a collection of frames and treasured objects, and add a certain low-key sophistication to the space.

Haleigh Chastain Walsworth's Paris apartment, from The Everygirl, is proof that using pastels in a space doesn't have to mean making it look childish. The key: lots of white, the addition of natural, textured elements, and the use of desaturated pastels with a sophisticated feel.

This beautiful Paris bedroom, from Planete Deco, is proof that textured elements are a surefire way to add appeal to any space. The floor, the rug, the fireplace, that old trunk all contribute to a space that's both stylish and interesting.

Light blue as neutral? This apartment from The Socialite Family will make you believe it.

My favorite thing in this Paris apartment from Vogue Living is the oversized mirror behind the couch — also a great trick for visually expanding small spaces. But I also love the little collection of objects on top of the fireplace, which can be shifted and changed to inject a little newness into the space whenever the owners desire.
